Brothers -

The Email requesting personal items for Masons living in Texas Masonic Retirement Center was particularly moving to several people at our lodge.

Can you imagine knowing that, in the Autumn of your years, other Masons will come to your aid, consistently, offering you life's simple pleasures - Just because you're a Mason...what honor!

The WARM Project.

Whiterock Aiding Retired Masons

A few of us are making the commitment to -

1) Regularly add an item to our personal shopping lists.

and

2) Bring the item to Stated Meeting.

Everything will be taken care of from there.

In return for your generosity and thoughtfulness, our lodge will be represented and our offerings hand-delivered to our brothers and there families at TMRC on a monthly basis.

The original request is included below, should you need it.

The WARM Project - Aiding Masons who deserve it most.

The Texas Masonic Retirement Center (TMRC) in Arlington is home to 49 Master Masons and 63 wives and widows of Masons. Most of the residents entered under the Total Asset Turnover plan, where all of their property, retirement funds and Social Security checks are turned over to the TMRC. In return, they have a very nice place to live, three meals a day, medical care, a very busy schedule of activities and a monthly allowance of $70 each.

They would purchase any personal items they want out of the $70/month they receive, including toiletries such as toothpaste and hair spray. However, the TMRC has a "Country Store" where the residents can pick up these types of items - for free. The Country Store is managed by a volunteer who opens it for a few hours twice a month and it is stocked by donations from Masonic lodges around Texas. The TMRC provides a small budget so some things can be purchased at the dollar store to fill gaps in inventory.

Our retired Masons and their wives and widows are making do with dollar store products like tissues and hoping that the Country Store doesn't run out of something they need - or they wait two weeks to go back. This is where YOU can help. When you buy these types of products for yourselves, please buy one or two extra and bring them to the lodge. Here is a list of items they will always need.

Brothers -

If you haven't already, please remember adding an item to your shopping list over the weekend...in "guy-ese"...this means, "Remember to tell your wife to...".

An old video or DVD works well too. By the end of next week, we'll have a more specific idea of what they'd like to have.

The first batch will be delivered next week. The idea is to build a relationship between Writerock and TMRC that comforts them and educates us...we may all very well be living there together in years to come.

For our next stated mtg, I have a very interesting report for you on the Texas Masonic Retirement Center.

The WARM project is a way to leverage a meaningful impact with such a small chore.

The item of the month is - Facial tissues. Please remember to bring it with you to stated mtg. - ray
